MASURY'S HOUSE PAINTS |
---|
(TRADE CATALOGUE) MASURY, John W. & Co. MASURY'S HOUSE PAINTS.
(New York): (circa 1885-1890). 8vo. Printed wrappers. (iv) pages, 16 pages of colored plates.
A very rare and appealing trade pamphlet not recorded on OCLC although a similar copy listed at Yale in the Birren Collection. However, it is not identical but of different size and number of plates - fifteen at Yale versus sixteen in our catalogue. The sixteen color plates in our copy are of house painting schemes, with the body, trim, roof, and brick and stone color specified. The color plates in this rare booklet were printed in some sort of three-color process. According to Romaine, the Masury Company was founded in 1835. Since the last page has an advertisement stating "Masury's House paints have been used for the past 50 years," this pamphlet was most likely printed 1885-1890. Very good.
