TE DEUM LAUDAMUS

(FAITHFULL)  TE DEUM LAUDAMUS.

London: Victoria Press, n.d. (1868). Small 4to. Publisher's blue pebbled cloth, all edges gilt. (iv), 9 pages, 29 chromolithographic plates. First edition.

The first edition of this book, featuring 29 chromolithographic plates sumptuously illuminated by Esther Faithfull Fleet (sister of Emily Faithfull), and prepared by M. and N. Hanhart.  Emily Faithfull, the printer-publisher, trained women at the Victoria Press for work as printers.  She was given the title Printer and Publisher in Ordinary to Her Majesty, the Queen, for whom she named her press.  There was a second edition published the same year, which is dated 1868 and marked 'second edition' on the title page.  A very good, bright copy of high-Victorian book production.
