CUTTING AND DELANEY. OUR DOORS AND WINDOWS, DECORATIVE LATTICE, HOW TO DECORATE.
Buffalo: (1889). 12mo. Decorated wrappers. (132) pages, including advertisements and price list.
Rare trade catalogue with only one copy recorded on OCLC -- at the Smithsonian Institution. Cutting and DeLaney were a leading firm in Moorish and Japanese style lattice and fretwork. Almost every page has elaborate illustrations showing their skill. A reprint of Owen Jones extract on "Arabian decoration" as well as one by Ralph Cram on a Mansion Hall "the walls are golden-red, stenciled with arabesques of green, gold and peacock blue." All sounding very much like interior decorations by Whistler, Dresser, and Owen Jones. There is also mention of Mrs. Astors use of arabesque design. A fascinating trade catalogue restored and preserved. Our copy is complete with all the advertisements and the price list printed on celedon colored paper.
