Rare item with only one copy recorded on OCLC in American libraries and only two other copies in Britain.  Frederick Braby & Co, Ltd. was a manufacturer of a vast range of products made from tin, zinc, lead and iron.  The firm was established at Fitzroy Works, Euston Road, London in 1839 and became a limited company in 1865.  The plates illustrate the economy of zinc over slate work for roofs, the pitch of a roof could be much reduced with an associated reduction of cost.  Braby's supplied roofing for all the main railway lines, Woolwich Arsenal, the dockyards, Canterbury Cathedral, South Kensington Museum, Lord's Cricket Ground and proudly boasts of the quantity exported abroad.  This included 904,000 feet to the Madras Railway but considerable amounts were also supplied Siam, Ceylon, Mauritius, Cape of Good Hope and Queensland.  Among the full-colored plates is plate T titled: "Sketch for road side railway station of iron & zinc as erected in Queensland & India."  Minor wear to tips of boards; minor spotting, else very good.
