(TRADE CATALOGUE) ANCHOR SUPPLY COMPANY. ORIGINAL CREATIONS OF ANCHOR AWNINGS SHOWN ON EXCLUSIVE HOMES & VILLAS.
Evansville, Indiana: (circa 1933). Oblong 8vo. Original stiff ocher printed wrappers. 15 pages.
Rare trade catalogue. While OCLC records several versions of the Anchor Supply Company catalogues, this one is not recorded. The Anchor Supply Company was founded in 1892 by Louis A. Daus as a riverboat supply house and sold oil, groceries, paint and eventually, waterproof covers to vessels traveling the Ohio River. Over the years, it developed into a tent industry pioneer and was the first company to manufacture and sell striped party tents. The present catalogue is copywrited in 1929 but the introduction mentions "experience of over forty years," which would date it to the 1933 penciled date on the front wrapper. It is a brightly colored promotion for their awnings as installed on "exclusive homes and villas." In addition to the window and door awnings, it also includes patio awnings and lawn umbrellas. Very good.
