William Salmon ((1703-1779) was best known for his book Palladio Londinensis, one of the most popular architecture books in colonial America. Schimmelman notes seven locations in early America for Vade Mecum. This successful price book was first printed in 1742, listing London and country prices of the different works of bricklayers, glaziers, painters, masons, carpenters, plaisterers, carvers, etc. For this second edition, the publisher added an engraved frontispiece showing trees being felled and measured. With contemporary notes on the front flyleaf. Some cover wear, else very good.
